Backers Endorse Fischbach For 7th District Race

LITCHFIELD, MN – Michelle Fischbach, the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate for western Minnesota’s 7th District and former Lt. Governor of Minnesota, today picked up the endorsements from two of west central Minnesota’s strongest conservative voices in Minnesota State Representative Jeff Backer and Big Stone County Commissioner Jay Backer.

“Michelle Fischbach is a battle-tested conservative leader who has what it takes to get the job done and retire Collin Peterson. During her time as a citizen legislator in the Minnesota Senate, Michelle had a 100% pro-life voting record and was ‘A’ rated by the NRA,” said Representative Jeff Backer. “With her proven record and President Trump’s full backing, we have confidence that Michelle will represent our conservative values in Congress and help President Trump keep America safe and our economy strong. Michelle has our complete endorsement.”

The Backers’ endorsement comes on the heels of Fischbach being named a Young Gun “Contender” on Monday and is the latest signal that Fischbach is the clear front-runner to win the 7th District Republican Party’s endorsement on Saturday, May 2.

“I’m honored to have the support of Jeff and Jay Backer and grateful for the confidence they’re placing in me to unite the Republican Party and retire Collin Peterson,” said Fischbach. “Jeff and Jay are two of west central Minnesota’s strongest conservative voices and with their help and President Trump’s full backing and confidence, we’re going to flip the 7th District red in November.”

The Backers join a growing list of prominent supporters of Fischbach, topped by “complete & total endorsement” of President Donald J. Trump. To date, Fischbach has also earned the endorsements of National Right to Life, Minnesota Citizens Concerned For Life, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, House Minority Whip Steve Scalise, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, Congressman Dan Crenshaw, Congressman Pete Stauber, former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, Senator Tom Cotton, Senator Kevin Cramer, and more than 20 current state legislators who represent portions of Minnesota’s 7th District.

Fischbach Reports Raising Nearly $600K With Donors From All 87 Counties in Minnesota

LITCHFIELD, MN – Michelle Fischbach, the Trump-endorsed Republican candidate for Minnesota’s 7th District and former Lt. Governor of Minnesota, today reported raising $228k in her first quarterly filing of the year with the Federal Election Commission.

Fischbach’s federal committee, Fischbach for Congress, will show receipts of $228k, with $312k cash-on-hand for the filing period ending March 31, 2020. Fischbach’s first quarter fundraising haul of $228k marked the second consecutive quarter where she outraised the incumbent Congressman Collin Peterson by over $60,000. This is the first time in the thirty years Collin Peterson has been in Congress that his Republican opponent has outraised him in two consecutive quarters. This brings Fischbach’s total amount raised over the seven-month time frame since she announced her campaign in September 2019 to $593k.

Key points from Fischbach’s fundraising efforts:

  • Outraised incumbent Peterson for second consecutive quarter;
  • Donors from all 87 counties in Minnesota;
  • Over 2000 individual donors;
  • 92% of donors from Minnesota – by comparison, 94% of Peterson’s itemized donations came from out-of-state donors;
  • 91% of donors gave $200 or less;

Fischbach’s strong fundraising report comes on the heels of earning President Donald J. Trump’s “Complete & Total Endorsement” on March 2, 2020 and continues to demonstrate her strength as the Republican front-runner in the highly competitive 7th District race. It was also announced last week that House Majority PAC, the Speaker Pelosi-aligned super PAC, booked an estimated $3.5 million in fall TV ads to prop up her loyal ally and friend Collin Peterson.

Fischbach Statement on Peterson Announcement

LITCHFIELD, MN – Following the news that Collin Peterson will seek reelection in Minnesota’s 7th District, Trump endorsed candidate and former Lt. Governor Michelle Fischbach released the following statement:

“I look forward to holding Collin Peterson accountable over the next eight months for his record of enabling the socialists in his party and obstructing President Trump’s agenda by voting against the president over 75% of the time.

“Collin has only added to our country’s division by voting for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker and enabling her to unleash her partisan impeachment sham against President Trump.

“The people of the 7th District support President Trump, and they will soundly reject Collin Peterson and the socialist policies of open borders, free health care for illegal immigrants, taxpayer-funded abortion, and mandatory gun buyback programs that his preferred presidential candidate supports.”

FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELLE BACHMANN ENDORSES MICHELLE FISCHBACH IN 7TH DISTRICT RACE

FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN MICHELLE BACHMANN ENDORSES MICHELLE FISCHBACH IN 7TH DISTRICT RACE

LITCHFIELD, MN – Former Congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, who has served as a member of President Trump’s evangelical advisory board in the past, today announced that she is endorsing former Lt. Governor and State Senator Michelle Fischbach, who is running for Congress in western Minnesota’s 7th District. If she wins, Fischbach would be the second Republican congresswoman to represent Minnesota in Congress; the first was former Congresswoman Bachmann.

“I am proud to announce today my full endorsement of Michelle Fischbach for Congress in the 7th District,” said former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. “I have known Michelle since we served together in the Minnesota Senate. I know her to be a conservative leader and a fierce champion for protecting the rights of the unborn and defending the Second Amendment. Michelle will represent western Minnesota values in Washington, and she will be a strong ally of President Trump as he continues to deliver on his promises to keep America great.”

Democrat Rep. Collin Peterson’s margins of victory have shrunk in each of the past three elections. In 2020, with President Trump on the ballot and Fischbach as the Republican nominee, Republicans view the 7th District race as one of the top pick-up opportunities in the country.

“It is an honor to receive Michele Bachmann’s endorsement. She is a committed fighter for the conservative movement and is one of the strongest voices in the evangelical Christian community. I consider her a friend, and I am so grateful for her full support,” said Fischbach. “Western Minnesotans are ready for a new voice who will represent their values in Washington and support President Trump. Collin Peterson should stop standing silently by while his friend Speaker Pelosi expands the impeachment sham to remove President Trump from office. He should publicly demand the House Democrats pass the USMCA and secure our southern border now.”

Bachmann’s endorsement of Fischbach comes on the heels of an already impressive list of Republican endorsements, including U.S. House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy, Minnesota Republican Leaders Senator Paul Gazelka and Representative Kurt Daudt, and sixteen 7th District Republican legislators.

Pointing to Fischbach’s entrance into the race, The Cook Political Report, Sabato’s Crystal Ball and most recently, Politico, changed their ratings for the 7th District race from Leans Democrat to Toss Up.

“We’re thrilled to add these compelling, hardworking candidates to our Young Guns program,” said NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer. “While Nancy Pelosi and the socialist Democrats continue to focus on the baseless impeachment of President Trump, we will be working with our candidates to take back the majority in 2020.”

“I am grateful for the support I have gained so far in my bid for the 7th District, and honored to be named as a member of the NRCC’s Young Guns program. I am in this race to win,” said Fischbach. “While Collin Peterson and House Democrats continue to obsess over the baseless impeachment inquiry to remove President Trump from office, even voting to prioritize impeachment over stopping the crisis at our southern border, House Republicans will be working to retake the majority and get to work passing laws that benefit the American people.”

Pointing to Fischbach’s entrance into the race, The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball both changed their ratings for the 7th District race from Leans Democrat to Toss Up.
