Bill Summary: The Law Enforcement Education Grant Program Act provides up to $16,000 in federal education grants for students pursuing degrees in law enforcement or criminal justice. In return, recipients must serve four years as full-time law enforcement officers.
My Position:
I introduced the Law Enforcement Education Grant Program Act to counter the Left’s reckless “defund the police” agenda. Time and again, we’ve seen what anti-police sentiment does to America’s cities: crime skyrockets, criminals run rampant, and families are left unprotected while feckless politicians turn a blind eye.
After years of defunding and demonizing law enforcement, police departments across the country have been gutted with officers leaving in droves due to fearmongering, attacks, and a total lack of support from local and state leaders. It’s no wonder our communities are suffering.
This legislation aims to turn the tide. By creating educational grants for students pursuing law enforcement careers, we can inspire a new generation to serve, rebuild our local forces, and stand strong against the anti-police movement.
At a time when Americans are being threatened by record levels of crime, this legislation can be the catalyst to fully staff police and sheriff departments, restore public safety, and protect our communities.
