Debunking the Democrats’ “Bipartisan Border Bill”

Debunking the Democrats’ “Bipartisan Border Bill”

The so-called bipartisan border bill was a disaster. Instead of prioritizing border security, it funneled millions of dollars to sanctuary cities and non-government organizations (NGOs) with ZERO funds for the border wall. It allowed for dangerous policies like catch-and-release and encouraged asylum fraud while accelerating work permits. Read more about why Republicans rightly rejected the bill.

Our Take

The Democrats’ “bipartisan border bill” is really a foreign aid package with some border provisions thrown in to continue the democrat’s habit of falsely naming bills (like the “Affordable” Care Act). The border provisions provide nothing of substance to fix the crisis at hand. In fact, it makes things worse.

Of the $118 billion in proposed spending, only $20 billion would address “border security.” Much of that taxpayer money goes straight to sanctuary cities like New York and Chicago, as well as NGOs that have been rolling out the red carpet for illegal immigration. Instead of taking serious steps like finishing the border wall, this bill cements the Biden-Harris administration’s failed policies, keeping the floodgates open for illegal immigrants to waltz in and claim asylum like it’s a free ticket to ride.

The bill keeps the notorious “catch and release” policy alive and well, gutting mandatory detention laws. It’s a recipe for disaster, allowing even more illegal immigrants to slip through the cracks and vanish into the shadows. It also incentivizes asylum fraud and dishing out work permits while offering taxpayer-funded lawyers for those breaking our laws.

Remember when you hear Kamala Harris citing her support for the Senate’s border bill, it’s all smoke and mirrors—a calculated effort by Democrats to funnel taxpayers dollars overseas while pretending they’re doing something about the wide open border.

Democrats have consistently opposed REAL border security measures passed by House Republicans in May 2023 that would finish the wall, hire more border agents, and severely restrict access to asylum.
