LEADER MACCARTHY BACKS FISCHBACH IN TARGETED WESTERN MINNESOTA HOUSE RACE
LITCHFIELD, MN – House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy is wasting no time backing his preferred candidate in western Minnesota’s 7th District, today endorsing former Lt. Governor and State Senator Michelle Fischbach, who launched her campaign in September.
“Michelle Fischbach is an experienced leader and one of the top recruits in the country for House Republicans. She is fully prepared to win a competitive election next year and has my complete and total endorsement!” Leader McCarthy wrote on Twitter.

Democrat Rep. Collin Peterson’s margins of victory have shrunk in each of the past three elections. In 2020, with President Trump on the ballot and Fischbach as the Republican nominee, House Republicans view the 7th District as one of the top pick-up opportunities in the country.
“The House Democrats promised us that they would get to work passing laws for the American people, like lowering prescription drug prices and passing the USMCA, but they haven’t delivered because they have been too obsessed with an impeachment inquiry to remove President Trump from office to accomplish anything meaningful,” said Fischbach. “This is why the House Republican majority matters next year and why Leader McCarthy has been at the front lines of this fight. I am proud to accept his endorsement, and I am committed to doing my part in taking back the House.”
The Fischbach for Congress campaign is off to a strong start. Last week, Fischbach reported raising $100k in her first 27 days in the race and outraised the rest of the Republican field combined by nearly 200%.
Pointing to Fischbach’s entrance into the race, The Cook Political Report and Sabato’s Crystal Ball both changed their ratings for the 7th District race from Leans Democrat to Toss Up.
